Bekah's First Cartridge

Today we got a letter from the Fayette Progressive Preschool. Bekah was accepted into their mentor program for the coming fall. She'll be in a class with a mixed group of children many of which have developmental delays or disabilities. Her role in the class is to help these very special kids to learn through example. She will be taught and play and learn with these wonderful little people. It will be a learning experience that I wish every little one could have. I'm so excited for her.

Her daddy was excited too. He went out and bought her a special gift to celebrate her acheivement...her very first Cricut Cartridge!!! She is the proud owner of the Cricut Lite Sugar and Spice Cartridge from WalMart's exclusive line. She is tickled pink about it and can't wait to get out my Cricut to get busy creating.

Here is the sample sheet in case you aren't familiar with this new cartridge. She is going to have tons of fun. She's already talking about making projects for Show and Tell at school.

Scrappy Challenge #3 - Sketch

Our Scrappy Challenge at A Crafty Little Place is another sketch by yours truly.

My LO is based on my daughter, my first baby, Anna who just turned fifteen on Monday!

Hard to believe...

It is titled "U R Fifteen"...the theme is all about her growing up. She's really into her music right now so I went with the guitar, some funky flourishes, butterflies and for the fun side in her the heart with wings. These were all cut using my Cricut Create and several cartridges: Home Accents, Love Struck and Stamping. I added some bling with pearls and Stickles. Gave it more dimension buy

 building layers and using some 3-D foam dots.

Its fun, a little busy and everything that Anna Beth loves right now. The colors actually match her new drapes. The guitar is going to be used to decorate her new ceiling fan. We are going to cut it a bit larger and adhere them in vinyl to her fan blades. Should be a fun project for us.

Not so sure I like her being 15 years old...but what are you going to do? Our babies just don't stay babies forever...some days thats good and other days...well, you know.

Paper Pals for Summer Scrappin'

Some of you may know that I've signed up for a summer online scrap class at Big Picture Scrapbooking. This one is about the kiddos and what they are doing with their summer moments. It gives them a chance to express what they have experienced and put together their own memories in a scrapbook.

The class officially kicks off in July. However, there are some pre-class assignments. One of these was to build a little paper pal for the kids to take with them on all of our summer adventures. I spent some time yesterday asking the kids what they wanted their little pals to look like. Today I spent time with my Cricut Create and the Everyday Paper Dolls Cartridge found at DCRU for 45% off right now!

Once I finished our new little friends I ran them through the Your Story Laminator. The lamination is to help keep these little friends stand up to the sticky fingers that will be handling them on a daily basis. My pals were at least three pieces of cardstock thick...considering that I'm pretty pleased with the way the laminator worked. It wasn't perfect but I think we will be safe for the months of June and July.

Soooo here we go....Introducing the Paper Pals of 2010. (Yes, I'm planning on doing this for a few more years.)

I made these at 6" so they would be large enough to photograph and be easily seen. We are taking our first Paper Pals trip tomorrow and I can't wait to see how things go. Our destination is Deer Creek Beach. We are going to build sand castles and have a picnic. There is a little play area not far from there and we may have to stop there for a while too. I'm not sure if we will take on the damn...but it will be fun to at least drive past and let the kids take a peek. If they are on their good behavior we may have to head up there and take a walk.  I think we are going to have day filled with fun.

Next week my oldest is leaving for a cross-country vacation with her grandparents. She has a Paper Pal too. Hers is made from the Forever Young Cricut Cartridge and is much more grown up. She is going to photograph her Pal in places like Mt. Rushmore, The Bad Lands, St. Louis,  MO...lots of other fun places too. I can't wait to see her pics.

Seize the Cupcake!

Okay here is a little card I made for the Cricut Crawl Challenge too. The FCCB is hosting this and you can click on the button on my left side bar to get there. This is the first card I've made using my Cricut Create and it was so simple. Love the little corners and all the sizing possibilities!

I used the "Straight From the Nest" Cricut Cart. and the Celebrations Paper Pack for the Cricuts by Provo Craft. Also a little bit of Stickles to add some sprinkles and enhance the

cherry on top. Fun little card!

My Very First Cricut Project!

I created this for the Cricut Crawl. I used my "Straight From the Nest" cartridge from HSN. It is soooo fun and full of fantastic images. I had a blast. I also used 3Birds Paper from HSN too and Cricut Paper as well.

For this project I used the following techniques from the Cricut Crawl Challenge:

3) Light Whimsy Blog - Shadow (Title, flower pots and tree)

I hope you enjoy my little Cricut LO...I had so much fun learning how to use my machine and what it is truly capable of. Why did I wait so long to do this?

Cricut Crawl

Okay if you didn't already know there is a super cool "hop" going on with Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog. It is called a CRICUT CRAWL. This is amazing because each of the girls has a super project idea for you to try out and even use on a project so you can be eligible for some SERIOUS PRIZES!

I'm going to break out my Cricut on Saturday and use it for the very first time. Mom is having a girls day with a group of us and we are spending the day scrapbooking and crafting. The perfect time to get familiar with my little buggy friend. I'll post my creation Saturday night.
