If you are finding this post without a sample project from me, I apologize. I've been pretty sick the past couple of days. Even with meds I haven't been able to get this fever down. So, I'm achy, stuffed up, sore throat and feverish, not exactly crafty status for me. I will try to post a card later, so please stop back.

Sew Many Cards Challenge #79

This week at SMC our challenge is all about COLOR!

Creat a project using PINK, YELLOW and TURQUOISE.

(Bare with me, blogger doesn't really have a turquoise option. Just use your imagination...hehehe.)

So, what did I do?

Using the wonderful Ribbon Butterfly and a little digital magic in Word, I made this little card...

...say hello to the newest little fellar (yes I said "fellar") on the pond...EDDIE! He is a little froggie of the cutest kind. Not only does he come on his cute lily pad, he has a fun little dragonfly to keep him company. This frog has an alternate image too. A frog for a cause complete with the awareness ribbon you can color for your cause of choice.

SMC LO Challenge - National Poetry Sketch

This week is a bitter sweet challenge for us at SMC LO Challenge. We are ending the term so this could be my final SMC LO Challenge post...we'll have to see if I make the Term II Team.

Since this may be my last SMC Post let me say that I've enjoyed working with Sarah, Jeri and Angela so very much over this term. Everybody has been just wonderful and I know this challenge will continue in the true spirit of creative nurturing and encouragement of artistic exploration.

So, enough of that serious stuff...

Our challenge this week is to use the sketch below and to create a layout that reflects a poem that we are fond of, either in entirety, in title or what the meaning holds for us.

Now add this great little group of supplies which includes three die cuts and two double sided pieces of DP, from our sponsor Sarah's Supplies.

Now add my Sew Many Cards Digital Image and a pic of my dear sweet Bekah...shuffle around the sketch a bit and you get this:

SMC Lay Outs Challenge - Cut it all by Hand!

Drag out your scissors and your paper. (In my case a good ruler too.)

Because I'm directionally challenge, even when cutting, I opted to go very simple on this one. The squares and matting were cut and distressed. Then I used scalloped edged scissors to cut a little decorative tag to use for my journaling.

And here it is...

So, what do you think? Are you loving that little Duncan sitting on top the mushroom? What mushrooms and cherries have in common...I have no idea, but they are in the food category, right? SMC Lay Out Challenge - Recipe

Don't you just love a recipe challenge? Well, this week at SMC LO Challenge that is what we have waiting for you...a recipe!

You will need to use a digital image (an SMC image is fantastic but not necessary to play).

RECIPE

* Use a staple

* Use a paper clip

* Use Newspaper
*Use a Post-It Note

Now if you are paranoid like I am you may be questioning the ladder supply. However, I found a way around this. I used a photograph or two that had newspapers and or newspaper print on them. You can also scan newspaper articles and such, then print with acid free paper. This will keep your project safe from nasty acids and the wood compound of lignin (the browning agent that turns your newspapers an orangey brown color).

Now, here is what I put together for the Recipe Challenge. I have to tell you that I had a real time of getting my printer to work. I finally ended up with black and white photographs. I think it works since my Sasafrass Lass Nerdy Bird papers are so bright and vivid. You be the judge though.

This is the double 8 1/2 x 11 LO. Sorry for the flash spot on Aubrey's head.

Upper right corner holds my cute little Visit Airplane from Sew Many Cards.

Can you see my stacks of newspaper? Oh, and the butterfly is actually a paper clip purchased in the office dept at Wally World. Cute huh? She is being secured to the page with staples...also part of the recipe challenge.

Okay, when searching for pics of newspapers I came across this gorgeous photo. Not only does it have paper clips, the butterfly is covered in news print. I think it is rather beautiful so I used it. If you can read my journaling on the left page it talks of spreading your wings and taking flight into the wide open adventure known as CHILDHOOD. I had the little plane, but there is something so very special about that butterfly image too. Couldn't resist it!

This is my updated version on the right side of the LO. I had forgotten to put my Post-It Note on the page. I added the post-it that I had. It is a tab. Once I got it on the page I added the words "Fun Times". Thought it worked out well since she was riding on a clock...LOL!

SMC LO Challenge for February 27th

It's challenge time at SMC LO Challenge Blog again. This one will get your head spinning. It is a cart blanche! Do what ever you are inspired to do and use a digital image...that's it!!! You can pick your theme, your papers, your embellishments, your design...just add pics!

I worked with the Hershey Value Pack from SMC. A very cute little package of digis for dogs and their dog lovers. I picked this one because my eldest daughter, Anna Beth, is the proud new owner of a Chihuaua Puppy. She's named him Paco. He does not live here, rather, he lives with Grandma and Grandpa and is a great companion for their Yorky. Paco gets to come on visits to our house from time to time. These pics are from the first visit a couple of weeks ago.

This is the right side of the LO. Anna with little Paco in her robe, just hanging out on a snow day from school. She looks so cute in her braids. Paco looks so stinkin' cute in his close up.

This is the right side of the LO with our sleepy little guy. He passed out on his back after playing hard with all of the kids. Anna was worried he'd get cold so she covered him up with her robe. So funny...as if he didn't already have a fur coat...LOL!

So here is the entire LO together. Did you spy out the cute little Hershey and his dog house? These are only two of the images in the Hersey Pack from SMC.

On this poem I listed the title as "ADORE" and used the word in a vertical direction.

Our First SMC LO Challenge

Here we go...our very first SMC LO Challenge! The basis of this challenge is to use a digital image on your page (SMCs or any other...you can pick up some freebies at SMC if you don't have one.) and create a photo block using one or more photographs. Then, put your journalling around your photo block. This is just one of the fun challenges that Sarabeth has lined up for our SMC LO Challenges.
